What's New
New Listing
Martin Bird & Associates has recently been appointed as the Central Agent to a 2001 46 Beneteau named Avventura III. For full specifications please visit the listing on our website.
The 46 Beneteau is a Bruce Farr design that blends performance and significant creature comforts. Bruce is a top flight Naval Architect who has been at the top of the game ever since his relocation from New Zealand to Annapolis,Maryland. He enjoys an international clientele for the designs that emanate from the offices of Farr Yacht Design. Avventura is a particularly successful design that the builder (Beneteau) has offered in numerous layouts. If a boat was delivered into the charter trades it would typically have a three stateroom configuration. As Avventura was delivered as a new boat to the current owners they elected for the “owners version” with the master stateroom forward. Here there is a commodious berth on centerline that exceeds the comfort level of an aft-cabin in an aft-cockpit yacht. There is an en suite head with electric powered WC. Guests can make up a convertible double in the main salon or take the aft cabin.
Avventura is well powered by a 63 hp Westerbeke (with 676 hours of time) or roller furling mainsail and headsail. Lot’s of time and money has been spent towards upgrading the systems on this boat to exceed the production boat standards.
If you are a buyer looking for a cruising boat with creature comforts, why not plan a trip to Annapolis, visit the offices of Martin Bird & Associates Yacht Brokers, and visit this nice clean Beneteau

Spectacular Autumn Sail
The first day of true fall sailing arrived on the Chesapeake on the 11th of October. This coincided with the start of the Schooner Race from Annapolis to Norfolk, VA. A high pressure system finally moved offshore making way for winds out of the NW at eighteen to twenty knots.

Hull Polishing
Glass Reinforced Plastic (fiberglass) boats require serious attention to the exterior gel-coat in order to maintain a good level of finish. UV rays, salt, wind, and acids in the waterways all contribute to the degradation of the gel-coat. With the proper professional approach (this is not easy DIY work) the hull can be launched with protective coatings to keep the boat fresh in appearance. Depending on the length of your season and your location, your boat may benefit from polishing twice a year. A good polishing is rarely achived by a boat owners application of some product or another by hand. Take your boat to a yard that can show you the results of a good industrial strength polishing!

Eastbay 47' spring launch
“Triple Play” the 47 Eastbay has been launched at the Dickerson facility in Trappe,Md. and will shortly be back to Luce Creek on the Severn River.
New gear for 2007 includes Radar & Autopilot. The “wheels” have been recently scanned by the ZF guys and coated with “Prop-Speed”. This to inhibit marine growth on the wheels. Hopefully lots of regular running of the boat will make this a moot point!

Preparing your boat for sale
There are a plethora of printed guides and television shows geared toward “staging” your home so it sells quickly and for top dollar. Not surprisingly, many of the same principles may be used to make your boat more desirable to buyers, and put more money into your pocket.

Veteran "Loopers"
Len&Roxanne Nelson of Rehoboth Beach, De. are long time clients of Scott Taylor having made numerous transactions of both sail and power boats through the offices of Martin Bird&Associates. Their latest boat is an Island Gypsy single screw trawler purchased on the Connecticut coast. Attached are some chronicles of their circumnavigation of the eastern half of the United States. This establishes them as "Loopers"!
